Cleansing Kitcheri
Cooking is a sacred activity and should be done with a happy heart and good thoughts! The food we cook has our energy infused into it. Be mindful!
1/2 cup split mung dal
1 cup white basmati rice
1 tsp tumeric powder
1 tsp cumin seed
1 tsp coriandar seed
1 tsp fennel seed
2 tsp fresh grated ginger
2 tbsp ghee
4 cups filtered water.
Sea salt or mineral salt (recommended)
Soak beans for at least 30 minutes to restore prana. Soak rice for 15 minutes to restore prana. Soak them separately.
Grind fennel and corinadar together in spice grinder.
Heat 1 Tbsp ghee in heavy stainless steel pan. Add the cumin seed until fragrant. Add fennel and coriandar, then tumeric and ginger. Saute spices until very fragrant. Add the beans and 2 cups filtered water and cook for 10 minutes at a boil. Add the rice and 2 cups filtered water and bring to boil. Cover and cook for 1 hour or until the rice stands on end. Add salt and some of the remaining ghee to taste and to dosha.
